Dominate Search Engines With More Research and Less Backlinks

Building backlinks to your website is a painstaking task that requires hours of time. Despite conflicting reports, quality backlinks are still considered to be the top ranking factor for competitive keywords. Though the amount of backlinks that you need to get that top spot will vary depending on where you get your backlinks from.

Luckily you do not have to guess which will benefit you in the searched by linking to you. The work has already been done and the data is available to everyone for free. Why build 200 worthless backlinks when 3 quality ones will do.

The first thing that you need to know, when you are trying to rank number 1 on google is the competition. Who is already ranking top of google for the keywords that you intend to target. This part is not rocket science, Simply search google for your keywords and take a note of the top 3 websites ranking on the first page.

Open a new text document and note down your top 3 competitors. The data that we are about to get from these 3 will be enough to tell you if you can compete and how to compete. We are going to identify the content on the web that is pointing to these top pages. Unless the top position websites are the owners of the tier 1 backlinking sites, we can use the same sites to get the same links.

Search google for a website called UberSuggest. It is part of a website called neilpatel.com. an online entrepreneur who allows us to use this tool for free. On the UberSuggest landing page, you must register with your google account. This is completely free and I am not affiliated with Uber Suggest.

Once you are registered and logged in you can look down the side menu and click on the button that says analyze backlinks. Then enter your competitors URL at the top and select to analyze exact URL. Clicking OK will get you a full list of websites that are linking to the page and the exact URL`s that they are linking from.

I do not need to go into to much explanation here, but if you are currently looking at a list of backlinks as long as your arm then you are in for some hard work. If I see that ranking for keyword is going to be almost impossible then I will happily move on to the next and I suggest that you do the same.

Now lets say that your competitor has only 5 to 25 backlinks. Now we can do some work, Select the FOLLOW option to eliminate no follow backlinks from the list and then download the list to a CSV file. You will need this list in order to identify possible backlink sources for your own website.

Now you have a list of websites that you need to get to link to you in order to come to the top of google. There are other factors such as on page SEO that you must have already got in order.

Take your list of websites and visit them one at a time. When you get to the site you are firstly looking to see if there is any obvious way to get a backlink. It could be a forum, so all you would need to do is register and create a profile. It could be a blog where you would have to make an original and creative comment. If not then you are looking to see if you can submit an article. Secondly you want to see if they are accepting or inviting people to do guest posts. If none of the above are available then you need to get contact details of the website admin.

Checkout the page that is linking to your competitor. What ever type of content is on the page is the type of content that you must create in order to stand a chance of getting a quality backlink from this site. Before you contact the admin, you should create some content for that specific website and make it factual and interesting.

The reason that I say you should do that first is because before the admin gives you a guest post spot. They will want to see your content and approve it, so you will end up creating the content either way.

This kind of link building is the slowest yet it is also the most effective. It may take you one day per backlink and it also may take you 3 to 6 months to get the search results that you are aiming for. So just know that you are in for the long haul and only target keywords that you know to be worth the effort.

If you want to get the results but do not have the time to put the work in. There are other options, You can get other people to do this work for you. People who are experienced in the market and know how to get results. You would effectively be buying backlinks and the results that you get may even be better than the results that you could achieve alone.

You should always take every opportunity to share your web pages on social media and web 2.0. Social bookmarking websites offer a great way to increase your position in the search engines by sharing your sales pages and your tier 1 backlinks.

Researching exactly how competitors are ranking at the top of google is more important that anything else. Quality content that no one ever sees is wasted effort.

Getting the right backlinks from the right websites will generate more positive results than blindly working your life away with no direction.
